The Position:
As a Senior Industrial Designer, you will be responsible for delivering world-class and passenger-centric aircraft seating design solutions, helping to bring our client’s ambitious product roadmap to life.
Salary is based on the skills and experience of the successful candidate in line with the company’s salary structure.
Responsibilities:
With your user-cantered mindset, you’ll act as the lead designer on a range of upcoming seating projects, channelling the needs of the passenger, customer, and business to produce rich, compelling designs.
Specifically, you’ll conduct explorative and evaluative research to gain insights into future seat designs, run and contribute towards creative workshops to generate ideas, and visualise your ideas and designs through sketches and software. What’s more you’ll build low-fidelity proof-of-concept models, develop seating designs in 3D CAD, and generate stunning renders and animations.
Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you’ll need to be curious, creative, inventive, and passionate. Specifically you’ll be fluent in Adobe Creative Suite, Solidworks, Keyshot, and Microsoft Office applications, and able to communicate your ideas coherently through a range of media, including sketching, modelmaking, 3D CAD, and rendering.
In addition, you’ll have a deep appreciation of the manufacturing process and technical constraints, and be able to work closely and collaboratively with engineering team members to achieve great results.
Ideally, you’ll hold a degree in Product/Industrial Design or similar and have a minimum of 8 years’ experience in designing world-class physical products, demonstrated by a fantastic portfolio of work. Direct industry experience of aircraft interiors would be preferred but not essential.
This is a dynamic company and there is opportunity to develop the role to meet the changing needs of the business.
The Location:
The role will be based from the company facilities in Northamptonshire. They do operate a blended working environment on a 4.1 basis.
