Production Operator

Our client is looking for a Production Operator for their assembly plant in West Lothian. They are offering a 6-month temporary contract at a competitive salary that could lead to a permanent opportunity. 

The Company: 

Our client is global manufacturer and provider of Microelectronic and Optoelectronic devices. They are known for providing world class technical solutions to an array of customers producing MEMS design and assembly for sectors such as the Space industry.

The Position

They are looking for a Production Operator to work as part of the assembly team. Offering a competitive salary package with shift allowance and overtime, training will be provided, 33 days holiday per annum and the opportunity to gain permanent employment.

Requirements:

  • Good standard of general education
  • Good hand to eye dexterity (colour vision) with experience working with small piece assemblies
  • Ability to concentrate while doing repetitive tasks
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • The initiative to work on your own or as part of a team
  • Able to report non-conformances / problems to the relevant person
  • Able to record data accurately 
  • Previous experience of working within Microelectronics/Optoelectronics would be preferred
  • Lead free soldering experience advantageous 
  • Experience using production equipment e.g. Wire bonder, pick and place, saw operation
  • Optical fibre attach experience

Responsibilities:

  • Working as part of a team under the supervision of the Shift Leader & Production Manager
  • Recording data results accurately on run cards during production process
  • Following instructions as set out by the standard operating procedures
  • Manual and semi-auto assembling packaged microelectronic and optoelectronic parts 
  • Cleaning and maintaining work areas and machinery
  • Inspection of parts in manufacture using microscopes and precision measuring equipment
  • Continuous quality standards met as set out by quality criteria
  • Testing and packaging completed parts
  • Set up machines (calibration, cleaning etc) to start production cycle
  • On the job training 
  • Weekly early and backshift rotation or constant nightshift 
  • Additional overtime may be required at the weekends
  • Opportunities for progression within the role.

The Location: 

The role is based in Livingston, West Lothian.  There are good road and rail links although this would ideally suit someone who lives within a 20-mile radius.
